Earlier this year, in February 2025, I lost my grandmother — the person who was my biggest support system and my only stable home. Since her passing, life has been a constant struggle to keep my baby girl and myself safe and sheltered.

We were ordered to vacate our apartment on 10/31 after nearly 5 years at the residence, and my daughters and I have been living in a hotel since. I’ve also been approved for a new place after months of spending so much on application fees that went nowhere… but now I’m unable to cover the move-in costs. I now have until December 1st to pay the deposit ($1500) & 1st months rent ($1500) to be able to secure my place as the new tenant as the landlord has been very patient with my situation thus far.

Hello my name is T**** and I’m reaching out to my community for aid. At the beginning of September, my health team was concerned over the physical strain my current role in the company was placing on my body and sent in for medical accommodations. I’ve seen been placed on medical leave and the processing for short term disability and applying my unspent PTO won’t kick in until much later. Single mother battling cancer. I was diagnosed in August of this year after enduring sicknesses since February without knowing what was going on exactly. After pretty much getting fed up and changing my OB Dr. I found out it was cancer all along Stage 3 Ovarian. I had surgery in Sept and just trying to find my way out of the hole that Im in. Peace Community. We are requesting community aid and mutual aid to try and piece our lives together from being blindsighted by an emergency possession eviction. It is so hurtful and painful to recall. My property manager said she was working with my Trustee office, she ended up refusing their payment and evicting because of her negative outlook on me. We were given 3 days. We could not represent ourselves in court, and still my request for representation fell short and we were told if we did not show, it would be an automatic possession. We fought for more time due to the other side committing perjury and was given two more days. We could not get even half of our belongings out because of my physical and non-physical disabilities. All of our food “tossed” neighbors say things were given away. A bed, given away. Supposedly 20 % of our belongings thrown away. Liquids, thrown away and possibly kept by the property owners. Filing a police report about the theft. A total nightmare. We lost heirlooms.

So we have a little less than a month to reclaim what items are being stored and there’s a daily fee. We are living in a shelter and it’s not stable, safe, sanitary or sustainable. I have developed a skin condition on my hand that is not being identified as treatable. It’s expected to be damaged for years. And this was a snowball effect from our car being totaled by a semi truck a few months ago, adding to my physical limitations. Transportation has been challenging, getting my son to school and trying to keep my job.

I have committed my life to community organizing when possible and service oriented work as often as I am able to work at all. I educate on ableism and advocate for varied abilities.

We pray this allows me to help others one day because it nearly pushed me to the edge. On the up side, I lost my faith for a little while, and somehow recovered it. Hello, 8 months after having my first baby I found out I had cancer and have since lost my job due to it. I am currently battling Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma, a rare cancer that affects less than 1,000 people per year. I am unable to work due to not only treatment but pain in my pancreas and back due to the tumors pushing on vital nerves and tissue. As of now I need constant assistance with everything I do. I do not qualify for assistance from my state, and have been waiting for updates since April for anything. Hello everyone! My name is Phylicia. I’m a young woman who has been recently become unemployed, and am taking care of my mother. I have been on a job search since April, but have been unsuccessful in my search. I managed to have my rent paid for from my savings for May, June and July but August and September rent are due/coming due & I still have yet to obtain employment. My mother has been declared disabled after having suffered a minor stroke awhile back, and is unable to bring in any more than her small SSI check. Also my small unemployment checks are not enough to cover rent, utilities, food and household needs, and my savings have helped cover the last few months but have run low. Unfortunately if rent is not paid, we will be evicted. We never thought we’d be in a position where we’d have to ask complete strangers for help, but The Most High told us to put our pride aside for once. We’re reaching out to our community after experiencing a deep betrayal that left our family homeless, separated, and struggling to recover.

My partner and I are raising our children with love, intention, and spiritual purpose. Earlier this year, my Partner was offered a leadership role at a café called the Greenery. They were promised not only a managing position, but true partnership. The offer included support that would make it possible for our family to relocate and root down: a fair salary, reliable housing, and help securing a home of our own.

Fast forward, none of the promises that were made were kept and we had to spend $600 on car repairs and even more to make up for the damages these expectations cost us.

Then, without warning or explanation, my partner was fired. Because of the relocation and being jobless, we were left with no housing, no transportation, no income, and very little stability.

We’re raising money for to be able to sustain ourselves, we have no where to turn, and currently live in a renovated school bus. The money will allow us to be able to get to work, create and find better housing, and take care of our children.

After relocating to the metro area in January due to a hardship in the trucking industry, I found myself displaced, sleeping in my car for the past 7 months, and out of resources.The brakes and rotors on my car are completely gone. No insurance coverage and the car note is at default for repossession. Sleeping in the car has definitely taken its toll on my body as well. $1000 is what I foresee to offset the current burden of car, communication instruments, and displacement. Thank you dearly.

I just gave birth June 11th,2025 to a baby girl. I am a mother of 3. Ages 10, 8 & a newborn. I currently am on unpaid maternity leave due to giving birth a bit sooner than expected because of complications of high blood pressure. I didn’t qualify for fmla or paid leave because I haven’t reached a year yet I also just started my new job in May before I gave birth but I’m trying to be stable on my own due to being in a domestic violence situation with my daughter’s father who is unsupportive. I decided to move on with my life and raise my daughter on my own. I don’t have much family support but I would truly appreciate the support. I am currently behind this month due to waiting on assistance (which is hard to get & lengthy) but I haven’t received any information on if it was approved or not. It’s been tough lately I was able to use my final check before giving birth to pay a portion of my rent. But now we’re going into August so it is behind with late fees. I just need a little push to get on top of everything

I’m reaching out with a humble heart because things have become incredibly difficult, and I’m doing everything I can to keep going. As a mother, my priority has been making sure my children are safe and cared for, but in doing so, I’ve fallen behind on bills while trying to handle rent arrears, childcare costs, and basic needs.

I applied for assistance through HRA twice and was denied both times. To keep a roof over our heads, I put my entire paycheck and even my student loan refund toward the rent, getting it down to just $1,000 and working out a payment plan with my landlord. But in doing so, I had to let essential bills like electricity, internet, my phone bill, and credit cards fall behind.

We’re also struggling with something as simple as clean clothes. I’ve been hand-washing what I can, but it’s painful, time-consuming, and not enough. We have piles of laundry that need to be done, and it’s overwhelming.

I haven’t even been able to get replacement glasses and without my glasses I really cannot see. They are hanging on, but only thanks to flexible tape and a head wrap I keep on my head to keep them on my face. Insurance would cover some of the cost, but I have a very strong prescription and need lenses that darken because of my sensitivity to the light.

What I need right now is a reset—to catch up on bills, get through this rough patch, and breathe again. I’m confident I can manage things moving forward, but I need some help getting over this hump. Any support—whether it’s financial, sharing this message, or pointing me toward any resources—would mean the world to me and my family.

I have been going through HELL for the past year.

I am a single black trying educated mother to a 5 year old daughter and 14 year old son. Nursing school was a huge sacrifice as i couldnt work fulltime and had to soley depend on my abuser. Yes i am a survivor of DV. and I thank God for giving me the strength to close that chapter of my life without the shoulda couldas and wouldas. I did.

For the first time in my adult life I found myself homeless but not helpless. I wasnt able to renew my lease in Nov 2024 which is the cause of the many other problems I am facing at this time.

My church assisted with my rent in October 2024 & then was supposed to assist me with moving to my new apartment December 2024, but i got the news the Monday after Thanksgiving that apparently the ball was dropped. 😪 I was devastated, literally all packed up and nowhere to go, causing me and my kids no where to go. I had to revisit a DV situation just to have a place to live. I had to throw all my furniture out and only keep me and my kids clothes toys etc. I wound up staying with this man til 5/12/2025.

Since 5/13/2025 I been homeless me and my kids been in a hotel room in Channelview. As I stated I previously I graduated nursing school 6/2024, I still haven’t been able to sit for my boards due to my hardships. I literally have to door dash and do go puff deliveries everyday to make sure i have the money to cover my room. That’s $70/day. Not including food for 2 kids and gas and many other necessities. These days lately been so harder than other days.

My car note due, car insurance due, and phone bill due. My kids go back to school Aug 12 and I dont know how Im going to make that happen. I had so many job prospects but I believe God is closing those doors because he knows the plan he has for me. I am supposed to be a NURSE already. But i been in the FIRE. I am so ready to be a NURSE and start my career.

Im literally an exam away from changing me & my kids for the better! i cant even pay the $200 fee to take my exam.

As a mother, I have only ever wanted to provide my children with a stable home and parenting that doesn’t require healing after they’re adults. But I am currently failing on one aspect. I am unable to pay for our home, and have not been able to for several months now.

Through no fault of my own, either. I lost my job in March of 2024 due to my job breaking my ADA accommodation for postpartum depression. I have applied for an overwhelming number of jobs— currently 5700. Many of which I was never considered– until I removed my photo from my L.I. profile. Once I did, I began to get some interest for interviews. Then I’d interview and be reminded that I’m, “..impressive, but the other candidates align more with the brand..” whatever that means. Or the role has already been filled or mostly no response at all. If you know of any remote roles, please PLEASE send them my way.

But I’ve also realized that a job is not the only way, so I continuously applied pressure to myself: I wrote and self-published seven books- please consider buying. I started an online store- please consider shopping with us. I started a notary business- please consider my services. I cashed out all my savings, 401s, 403bs, and hosted several yard sales. My parents helped me with these yard sales. They’ve also exhausted their resources. Although they’re retired, they have no more financial support to give me, and I completely understand. They have to survive, too.

I have received help from a couple dear friends (THANK YOU to each of you. I LOVE YOU, dearly..), but cannot continue to ask people for resources they need.

Recently, I’d asked a question on FB that landed me in FB jail and gagged my account for a few months. The question I asked, “What made you consider committing _______?” I wanted to see if I had reached my breaking point. If other people’s breaking point was similar to my own. If I was crazy to think that THIS was a good reason to be at a breaking point. So many people are suffering and it was evident in the thousands of comments that post garnered in less than 30 minutes. But FB did not find my post healing or even allowable. I was silenced, but still relieved that I was not alone in my thinking.

Life is so hard. Asking for help is even harder, for me. Especially, when the people you ask cannot or will not help you. I’ve exhausted all my resources at this point. I’ve done all I can do. I have begged. I have attempted to borrow. I am willing to now grovel.

If you’ve ever been here, I am sorry, and I hope that people were willing to give you what you needed. And if no one did, I am sorry. If you have experienced being unhoused, I am even more sorry.

I’ve been trying to find shelter for a while, my life took a turn for the worst last year and I’ve been trying to survive without a place. I still have to pay for certain bills including my phone bills and bills for my car and to maintain my car, it’s almost my only form of shelter that allows me to get around from place to place. I used to run my own business but for now it’s down. Working on getting Job interviews and getting a steady job. I would appreciate some help.

For the past 4 months, I have been going from temporary home to temporary home after being forced out of my residence. I was finally approved for an apartment by the grace of God and just need help with the remainder of the security deposit. I am going back to school and have steady employment now so I will be able to afford my rent, but the part of the deposit I was able to put down wiped out the little I could save. I just desperately need some stability.

Hi family ! I’m Sabrina I’m a 28 year old aspiring Alternative medicine provider I currently own and operate a small skincare business called Diaspora Holistic . My family and I fell on hard times April of Last year after we experienced an overnight fire that left my 3 children and I displaced , my grandmother who also lived with us unfortunately never recovered and was laid to rest a year later this past June . It’s been hard for us as the father of my children was shot & killed Christmas Eve before he got to meet his son two weeks later . Because my business was home based I’ve lost income alongside everything I used to create and have since have had to apply and work around providing for my kids . I stayed at a shelter for a short time and have since been living out of a hotel that I could use help with . The hotel is $100 a night and honestly being set up for a week would help us greatly . They’re already in the waiting list for daycare and I have interviews lined up one as a merchandiser however I had to reschedule because lack of childcare. I am currently approved for Section 8 housing thank God but have yet to be told when I can move after I have submitted by paperwork for two months now . My kids are 3,2, and 6 months 2 girls and 1 boy. This would help us have a safe place to stay and rest while we prepare for work daycare until I can afford housing to provide for us I’m asking for at least week at the hotel and a little extra for our uber / and or childcare cost .
