New Orleans teen shatters entire U.S record, with the most College offers and millions in Scholarships.

Dennis Barnes, a senior at the International High School of New Orleans, was accepted to 125 colleges after applying for for 200 colleges. He reached a total of $9 Million on Scholarship funding.

Barnes broke the record of $8.7 million documented in the Guinness Book of World Records. The record was previously held by a Lafayette high school senior.

Barnes plans to make his decision on which college he’ll attend by May 2nd.

Offers are still coming in, and Barnes is hoping to reach $10 million in scholarships by the end of the month.

He’s maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.98 at IHSNO and holds leadership positions in the National Honor Society. He’s fluent in Spanish and received an official qualification from the Institute Cervantes from Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports. He was also awarded the Jose Luis Baños Award for Excellence in Spanish Language by Maria Page, Honorary Consul of Spain in New Orleans.

Set to graduate from IHSNO on May 24th, Barnes has been dual enrolled at Southern University of New Orleans, earning college credits for the past 2 years while pursuing his High School diploma.

Barnes left a message and some advice for students applying for colleges:

The road to a successful future is to plan ahead, network with the collegiate partners, and know that If you can see your vision, you can achieve your goal.
