I’m Brooke Taylor—a proud mom of four incredible boys, a disability advocate, and a survivor of a life-changing medical crisis that completely changed the course of my life. What was supposed to be a new beginning after surgery became a fight for my life, leaving me with a traumatic brain injury and other long-term health complications. I lost my career, my home, and nearly everything my family owned, but I never lost my determination to keep fighting.

Today, I’m rebuilding our lives one day at a time while waiting on disability, raising my boys, and advocating for better patient care, disability awareness, and the importance of community. I believe that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can be found through kindness, resilience, and refusing to give up.

More than anything, I’m simply a mom who wants to give her children a safe, loving home and show them that no matter how hard life gets, we keep getting back up. If sharing my story helps another family feel less alone or inspires someone to lend a helping hand, then every difficult chapter has had a purpose. My mission is to turn pain into purpose and rebuild a life my boys can be proud of.

Due to an unexpected loss of employment tied to government funding cuts, my family is facing significant hardship, including recent displacement. I am urgently seeking financial assistance to maintain essential storage and transportation needs for my children (including infant) and I.

Keeping our storage secured is critical so we don’t lose the basic items we rely on, which would create even greater expenses down the road. Transportation support is equally important as I actively pursue stable employment, attend interviews, and take on gig work to generate income.

This has been an extremely challenging period, and I am doing everything I can to move us toward stability. Any assistance during this time would make a meaningful difference, as circumstances can change quickly and any one of us may find ourselves needing help.

I’m a single dad of two who’s fallen on hard times. Last year I got into an unfortunate accident which required multiple Dr’s visits and the discussion of surgery. Since my kids require all of me, I had to put surgery on the back burner so that I could continue to work and provide for them financially. I was able to get medical leave in the event it became too hard to work. If I physically couldn’t go to work, I took leave and reported to my superiors as I was told to do. After months of following this same process, I was abruptly informed that I was being penalized because I didnt take additional steps to report absences, even though I wasn’t told to do so. I was suspended pending further investigation, but was told by managers that everything would work out and that I would be back to work shortly. I was told that this oversight has happened to others before and they were allowed to come back to work. After weeks of waiting for a decision, I was told that it could not be looked past this time without any further explanation. I informed my superiors that I reported my leave the only way I was told. I was given the run around and then ultimately let go. Even with knowing that I am a single father and that this matter was purely an oversight and not anything malicious, my employer upheld their decision to terminate me. I was told since the offense wasn’t anything “detrimental” to the company, I would be able to reapply after 12 months. I have been struggling to keep up with medical expenses since my kids lost their insurance. While searching for jobs, I applied for unemployment just so that I can have something for my kids needs. I received a letter stating that I’m disqualified from receiving any payments because my previous employer is stating that it was my fault why I lost my job. I now have to appeal which will take a long time. I don’t have the resources for lawyers or any aide. Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.

I am a single mother of a 7 year old girl and I live with my 82 year old grandmother. I am the sole provider for my family and my car just broke down. I have since lost my job due to it being 30 minutes away with no transportation to get there. My grandmother has never had a license so she relies on me to get her to and from appointments. I am currently working and life’s difficult taking care of everyone and having to walk everyone or spending so much on public transportation. Hello, I’m Kery, a small business owner working toward stability. Between gig apps, job searching, home repairs, mental health, and everyday life, I’m currently struggling quite a bit.

A few years back a tree fell on my home during a bad storm and my roof and ceiling across the entire back of my home caved in. You can even see part of the damage to my ceiling from caving in taped off by the construction paper in my bedroom (my way of turning lemons into lemonade) and trust me that’s not even half of the damage. Over the years I’ve managed to complete some home and roof repairs (not all), get better transportation for better work opportunities, and handle a few important things needed to keep surviving. But I’m still struggling with overdue bills.

Right now my phone is my entire source of income. I use it for emails, job applications, shipping orders, gig apps, and … everything else. Yet I constantly have to delete apps and files just to take a simple order delivery confirmation photo for work. Some days I have to delete one delivery app just to work another.

My goal is to help purchase a new work computer, (for better phone storage, daily work, and for a better job opportunities) , pay rapidly increasing DTE bills, and continue repairs to make my home livable again. Anything helps, and I truly appreciate the support 🤎

Hi. This is a very difficult thing to post but something has to break in our lives. We aren’t making it and I’m struggling to keep it together. I am a divorced mother of two. I don’t get alimony in the state of Texas and child support is meager. I was holding it together until my daughter with autism got profoundly ill. She has been hospitalized 22 times in 2 years. She was in a coma for the entire month of January 2025. I was a Speech Pathologist and I could no longer hold a job because of her illnesses. I had to become a paid caregiver to care for her and the financial difference between my former job and a state caregiver job in the home is devastating. Every time she is hospitalized, I don’t get paid and it’s stressful because I have to worry about her health and worry about finances at the same time. We’ve lost so much over the past year and now I’m trying to keep my home, keep food on the table for the month and pay our light, water/gas, and insurance bills. Our car broke down 2 months ago and that was another blow. Ride sharing and delivery has dented our low finances even more. We can no longer go to food banks, in-person therapies and appointments with specialists, or just riding. I have connected to every state agency for people with disabilities and there isn’t much help out there like people would believe. I’m tired and my health is taking a turn trying to keep it together. Family and friends have helped in the past but even they struggle. Please help us. I am exhausted as a mom, provider and caregiver. I am overdrawn with bills and financial help is limited. I am 50 years old, still recovering from a stroke + brain surgery from December 2024 stemming from an abuser that took all my finances and destroyed my credit. My conditions have left my cognitive abilites impacted so im not able to perform like i use to leaving me unable to obtain proper employement. I was able to get away and now i am working on stabilizing and rebuilding my life. I am a hard working, intelligent woman with goals and aspirations that i still plan on making come true. There is a cheap room to rent near me, which would be able to allow me to with this mutual aid request, settled down, get Ampster (my cat) and myself properly housed as well as getting reliable transportation (electric bike) and be able to start on different work.

The hardest thing to do is ask for help. That’s my biggest problem and I’ve been asking for help since October 2025. I’ve been ignored and overlooked and it’s honestly discouraging. I’m a single mother of two beautiful kids I do not get government assistance I do not get child support. I was laid off and finally found a job but it’s not paying enough to get my rent caught up. This guy named Donavon Valentine claimed to be a debt consolidation worker who helps with bills, but come to find out, he was a scammer taking people’s money.

$900 was taken from me. I’ve reached out to this gentlemen regarding my money, only for him to give broken promises that he would return my money to me. I’ve reported this to the police, even tried getting an attorney on it. Still, no money has been given back to me.

I come from a very toxic family dynamic so I don’t have any family help, I am consistently denied for government assistance ( I was just denied again as of 11/7), and no child support. I relied solely on my paychecks from work to take care of my children. With this termination, the government shutdown, and this job market. I have been desperately seeking employment with no luck as of yet. Bills are piling up. I was attempting to raise funds for rent when I initially created this post, but we have now been evicted as of 11/13.

We have been unable to stay at shelters due to the lack of room, considering we have a large family. We don’t have family to stay with and friends are unable to house a family of my size. I’ve been trying to do all that I can to avoid us staying out on the streets. 12/3 we were invited to stay with someone in exchange for free childcare. So I have been caring for 4 young children without pay in exchange for a place for me and my children to live. We are staying in a small bedroom in the home, but unfortunately, things have escalated pretty quickly and we will have to leave soon due to the domestic violence in the home between the homeowner and her spouse. I also now have a granted peace order against the man in the home, as well as a pending assault case against him.

I’ve been applying to so many jobs and filed for unemployment, but my previous employer has been refusing to report wages so that’s been on a standstill. I do have an interview scheduled for 2/2, so hopefully I hear some good news soon!

Hi everyone my family of four is recently homeless due to a fire deeming our house uninhabitable. Our landlord is refusing to use his insurance to cover the damages. Hello, I’m a disabled Mom with my adult daughter living in a motel 6, we lost our apartment in November 2024, and have been bouncing from Motel to Motel until we managed to establish residency at this motel. This just means we don’t have to leave every 28 days.I don’t receive disability yet, it’s such a long process. My son died in January 2022,and my mental health took a major dive, my physical health took a dive because of this.My daughter works but that money goes right into our room rent, So we literally have nothing after that, we do receive foodstamps but that doesn’t last long living in a motel. Our storage has all of my sons belongings and pictures are in there so the sentimental value is astronomical. This is a bill we struggle with monthly I’ve been so depressed and stressed over this. Hello! I’m a Multiple Sclerosis survivor in need of assistance getting a car. I don’t need anything fancy just something to get to my appointments at the cancer family center. I’ve been diagnosed since 2023. Having MS have affected my ability to keep and obtain employment. The TYPE of MS I has is RRMS; meaning I experience symptoms all the time some of which include nerve pain on the left side of my head, face, neck 24/7 due to them being damaged.

I am only look for assistance to get something cheap around $1500. If $1k is met, I can scrap up the rest somehow. I live away from a major city so having a vehicle is really needed.

Being a single mother means doing everything possible to keep life running smoothly for my children, but when my car broke down everything came to a sudden stop. My car isn’t just transportation it’s how I get to work, take my kids to school, make appointments and ensure they have what they need every day.

For starters I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. I have been on this app for some time getting acquainted with vendors as I too am a service provider of massage therapy. I also want to say this is a request I do not make lightly but I am in a position where I have exhausted all the state resources at my disposal. I fell on hard times when I lost two jobs after I gave birth to twins two months ahead of schedule which ultimately led to us losing our home. I say that I am blessed because these are my beautiful rainbow babies and after complications I am thankful that they are healthy and meeting all milestones. I do call 211 religiously and follow up with the shelter referrals they provide but I’m always told they are too full and do not know when they will have a bed available for a family. We are located in Southern California and it has been storming over the past week and I want to avoid having to spend any more nights in the car. $800 will get us 8 nights in a motel which can at least get us through the rest of the month. I am looking for work but given my predicament of two 14 month-olds I have not been able to get childcare as of yet. Thanks again for any support and happy holidays. After dealing w homelessness I also had to put my car in the shop and have been dealing with a transmission issue that I just can’t afford to repair so I’m also humbly asking for assistance with that.

Hello great day , im Tara , my wife was recently diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma stomach cancer , she went in the hospital came out with cancer , 3 blood clots , 2 on the lungs . Shes been in and out the hospital now over 4 months. This has been the longest time almost over 3 weeks in without coming out. We have 2 children elijah is 11 months and helena is 2 and is autistic. I am a stay at home mom and she was the bread winner , all this happened within the matter of a month and some change , so quickly its been a crazy ride , we haven’t been able to pay rent or utilities , I’ve been using money traveling back and fourth to appointments of the children and of course being at the hospital everyday and my wife’s biggest advocate because as we know hospitals aren’t the best places to be when in a situation you cant always speak for yourself because your in constant pain . I go hard for my wife everyday , calling doctors even on the weekend because they done gave me their cell numbers , I dont play . But I have forgotten about myself on many occasions thus far and its time to snap back into reality and I really need help , we have 15 bags of laundry , 4 months of rent , and the foodstamps keep getting tuened off and on . I need to go to driving school which cost 400 so I can stop with the ubers and lyfts. I dont have one now because I have epilepsy and didnt think to get one but its been awhile since I have had one and doctor approves . I am a single mother of two who has fallen on really hard times in a very short span of time. I have always prided myself on making sure my children don’t know or couldn’t see that we were struggling, but with things falling apart so rapidly, it’s been hard to hide the fact that I am struggling to manage our basic needs. I don’t have any money to buy basic essentials such as toiletries or groceries. I’m forced to send my kids to school a lot of times with little to no snacks, and hope that they like the school lunch that day to actually eat it, because I don’t have the money to afford extras. When my bank account would be very low or negative, I would use my credit cards just so that we wouldn’t go hungry, but now that I’ve maxed them out handling those things, I don’t have a backup, so now I am going without most times just so that they can have something small to eat at night. I have asked my apartment complex to come down on the rent due to ongoing issues at the hands of the apartment, just so that my children and I don’t have to move like we normally do yearly. There are things that are pending due to be shut off. I am behind on my rent, uilities, cable, car note, and credit card bills. I am flooded with constant emails and text messages about late payments affecting my credit score and putting me in a bad position, but if I don’t have it, there’s nothing I can do. I cannot lose my car because that is our only means of transportation to get them to and from school and doctor’s appointments and get myself to work. Even with all that’s going on , my kids are very grateful for the little that they do have, so that makes me feel that I am doing something right in regards to them. They are still small enough to look at life through their innocent glasses, but big enough at the same time to see me struggle and sympathize and try to offer me with solutions to help at their young age. I don’t have family that is close and people that I do know that are close are in their own predicament, so no one is able to extend a helpful hand. Hello everyone, my name is Brianna. I moved to LA in September of 2024 so I could finish my degree and graduate. It was a long and stressful journey, but I finally earned my degree from UCLA this past June. However, now that my classes are over, I’m not receiving any more financial aid. That was what kept me afloat all this time. I’ve been looking for work since I got here, but the job market in LA is atrocious and even with hundreds of submitted applications and dozens of interviews, I haven’t found anything. I also started the process to get my substitute teaching credential months ago and that process has finally completed so I’m now able to find work that way, but it takes time that I do not have. Due to many delayed opportunities and months without work, I was evicted the day before Thanksgiving. I’m financially struggling to keep a float, with bills constantly stacking due to me being my families only source of income. I’m currently taking care of my siblings and other family members. My grandma passed in September and they’ve been struggling since after paying funeral costs. I’m financially drowning in a constant loop not being able to make ends meet. Utilities has been late for months now with us praying they won’t shut anything off. I get paid only $15 an hour full time. The job market is terrible so this is all I have. We’ve had to go days without food due to not making enough even though I work almost everyday, doing doubles. Just needing help with getting ahead of things so that we can get out this loop. With the way things are going we can be at a high risk of being homeless by next month for the winter. My parents are a lot older and wouldn’t survive it. Any help is appreciated!

In August 2025, my grandmother passed away, and my life unraveled all at once. She was my family’s foundation, and losing her left me grieving while trying to stay strong for my daughter.
During this time, I faced serious emotional, mental, and financial hardship. I had to cover memorial expenses with only a small settlement, which quickly became overwhelming. On top of that, a family member began threatening and harassing us, repeatedly attempting to squat in the household. The situation became unsafe.
For the protection of myself and my daughter, we were forced to leave our home and live in a hotel for three weeks. Those weeks were filled with fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion as I tried to keep my child safe while figuring out our next steps.
We have since moved into a safer location, but the financial damage and emotional toll remain. I am asking for support to help us recover, stabilize, and rebuild after a period of loss, fear, and displacement.

Hello everyone. I’ve been in and out of a hotel for over a year now. From hotel to shelter to and some times my tiny car with my 3 children.. I have a 16, year old. 5 years old and 3 year old. Things weren’t always this bad for us. We were abandoned by my two youngest kids dad last year. With a car that didn’t have insurance or registration and no money, an no way to make money .. I do what I can the best I can. I work doing deliveries because it’s the only work I can do because of the assistance my autistic gets thru out the day and I have no one for pick ups and drop offs. So yes I’m still driving my car with no registration, no insurance making sure my daughter gets to school everyday, my 3 year gets to daycare and my 4 year gets to Aba and I pick them up all while trying to make enough to cover her room fees day to day. I’m just a mom who needs help, a break and assistance. I’m exhausted. I don’t have help. And I don’t know what else to do but to keep doing what I’m doing. Which is risking our transportation and our sometimes home to make it. somerimes I don’t even make enough to have a hotel I’m just trying to get us out of here and some where stable and safe.

After being laid off and losing housing earlier this year, I’ve been working to get back on my feet and was able to secure temporary housing. That temporary housing is coming to an end, and without a permanent place to move into, I am at risk of homelessness.

Recently, I received a blessing and was approved for low-income housing at just over $789 per month. The only thing standing in the way of securing this apartment is the security deposit and December’s prorated rent, which together total just over $1,000. This amount is due December 22nd.

This apartment is located in downtown Detroit, within walking distance of public transportation and hundreds of job opportunities. Because I am currently without a vehicle, this location is essential. Securing this housing would provide long-term stability, allow me to pursue and maintain employment, and gives me the foundation I need to rebuild my life.

I am a 33 year old woman with 2 children who are five and one. I away from my family and closest friends at the moment. My support is God and the powerful prayers of a God fearing mother. My oldest has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome, she is fortunately blessed with great health and she attends various therapies to help strengthen her skills. I’ve always been dependent on myself when it came to tough situations. After having my daughter I realized real strength is in community.

Recently their father and I got into a domestic dispute that led to me having to be hospitalized and eventually losing my job. Prior to this incident he only assisted with paying half of our son’s daycare and since then has opted out of doing that. The bills are already behind, my car (blessed to have it) is needing some TLC and I’m honestly barely holding it all together. I’ve been doing this thing called life for a while on my own and with children added into the mix has been physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausting. I truly just need some help. Hello I’m a mother of 7. We usually do well on our own, but I lost my job in the middle of the year and we’ve been struggling since. I received possession eviction a few days ago, and I have until January 2nd to move my property out. I haven’t been able to find a job, I just need some help. Hello I am a single mom of three children, we have been living in our place a little over 4 years now and the landlord has not truly did alot for this property. He basically been neglecting to the point I ask him to bring in professional help for all the mice and bugs that get in the home and he always says we’ll im not the one that place them in there what am I suppose to do is his response. I have voice notes of him hanging up on me when im trying to express how frustrating it is for my children in me to be in this type of environment with rodents running around my kids are scared to walk around there own home. I am on section 8 they have done a inspection recently and he has failed it and basically has not came back out to get anything started to fix what was failed after claiming he was coming out to fix things.He also says just find some where eles to live if your not happy but the thing is I have been out of work since the kids were out of school for the summer,so I’ve been looking for a job that will work with my availability since im the only one that can get my children when there out of school but the jobs application are denied because they cant work with my hours I can work. So I express that to the landlord if I wanted to move I couldn’t because I don’t have a job for deposit to move because section 8 just pays rent not a security deposit. Me or my family dont deserves this type of treatment especially if he is getting paid rent. I need help he is being unprofessional. Im scared ill be homeless because of him not wanting to come fix anything and I loose my place. I am also having trouble getting my car fix because it keeps overheating, so im definitely asking for help please and thank you.

Hi I’m a mother to 3 and just needing to pay utility bill, &gas bill just trying to keep my kids out the dark or moving out temporarily due to lights & gas out. Hello everyone. I’m in desperate need of raising $1200 as soon as possible so that I can finally start to finish a dental dilemma that I’ve been dealing with since February.

I need 3/4 wisdom teeth removed after having one removed about 3 months ago.

I’ve been homeless, my car was repossessed, and for the first time in an extremely long time, I’ve been able to secure a job to be able to turn my life around and get out of the continuous rock bottom I’ve been living. I’m trying to raise enough to get my transportation to move from NC to Florida, and food and lodging costs covered so I can start work Monday morning. I was supposed to start this past Monday, but wasn’t able to make it.

Earlier this year, in February 2025, I lost my grandmother — the person who was my biggest support system and my only stable home. Since her passing, life has been a constant struggle to keep my baby girl and myself safe and sheltered.

With the little help I could get from friends, I managed to get a rent-to-own shed to live in. It’s not much, but I made it into a home for my daughter — a place where she could sleep safely and stay warm. Unfortunately, things have gotten harder. Without family nearby and no reliable childcare, I haven’t been able to keep steady work.

We were ordered to vacate our apartment on 10/31 after nearly 5 years at the residence, and my daughters and I have been living in a hotel since. Between storage fees, hotel costs, food, and gas, my savings have been depleted. I’ve been actively interviewing and applying for work, and I’m grateful to share that I have a job offer starting soon within the next few weeks. I’ve also been approved for a new place after months of spending so much on application fees that went nowhere… but now I’m unable to cover the move-in costs. I now have until prior to December 15th to pay the deposit ($1500) & now prorated 1st months rent ($750) to be able to secure my place as the new tenant as the landlord has been very patient with my situation thus far. $247 storage fee has been paid.

I’m asking for support with deposits, remaining hotel nights, food, and basic expenses so my family can finally move into stable housing. Even $5, a share, or a lead on resources can make a real difference. Proof of our situation can be provided to anyone who needs verification. My oldest daughter is a senior, and all I want is for her & her sisters to be able to stay focused on school and not let what I’m going through affect their path in any way.

Hello my name is T**** and I’m reaching out to my community for aid. At the beginning of September, my health team was concerned over the physical strain my current role in the company was placing on my body and sent in for medical accommodations. I’ve seen been placed on medical leave and the processing for short term disability and applying my unspent PTO won’t kick in until much later. I’m desperately need help to make it until then, including covering this month’s rent and repairing my car so I can do food delivery and pet sitting to have some sort of income while I wait for my medical leave to end. Literally anything helps whatsoever!

Single mother battling cancer. I was diagnosed in August of this year after enduring sicknesses since February without knowing what was going on exactly. After pretty much getting fed up and changing my OB Dr. I found out it was cancer all along Stage 3 Ovarian. I had surgery in Sept and just trying to find my way out of the hole that Im in. Im up for eviction and ALL of my bills are behind. I haven’t gotten a release from my Dr. yet. I try to clean houses which I’ve nearly passed out while doing and am extremely winded BUT I still try. Peace Community. We are requesting community aid and mutual aid to try and piece our lives together from being blindsighted by an emergency possession eviction. It is so hurtful and painful to recall. My property manager said she was working with my Trustee office, she ended up refusing their payment and evicting because of her negative outlook on me. We were given 3 days. We could not represent ourselves in court, and still my request for representation fell short and we were told if we did not show, it would be an automatic possession. We fought for more time due to the other side committing perjury and was given two more days. We could not get even half of our belongings out because of my physical and non-physical disabilities. All of our food “tossed” neighbors say things were given away. A bed, given away. Supposedly 20 % of our belongings thrown away. Liquids, thrown away and possibly kept by the property owners. Filing a police report about the theft. A total nightmare. We lost heirlooms.

So we have a little less than a month to reclaim what items are being stored and there’s a daily fee. We are living in a shelter and it’s not stable, safe, sanitary or sustainable. I have developed a skin condition on my hand that is not being identified as treatable. It’s expected to be damaged for years. And this was a snowball effect from our car being totaled by a semi truck a few months ago, adding to my physical limitations. Transportation has been challenging, getting my son to school and trying to keep my job.

I have committed my life to community organizing when possible and service oriented work as often as I am able to work at all. I educate on ableism and advocate for varied abilities.

We pray this allows me to help others one day because it nearly pushed me to the edge. On the up side, I lost my faith for a little while, and somehow recovered it. I just know that losing faith can be a permanent wound and we’re so grateful we did not stay there. Thank you all in advance for your community and valuing our lives.
