My name is T*****, a single mother of three in South Carolina. After losing my job of 2 years in August at no fault of my own, my children and I have been struggling to stay stably housed. Past housing issues including an eviction caused by unresolved maintenance problem (a sewer issue that caused me to have to break my lease agreement after 4 years and leave the home for the health and safety of my children and I…. The landlord out of spite filed an eviction unknowingly to me days after I had already cleaned, vacated the property, informed him and left key). and another tied to my recent job loss have made it nearly impossible to secure a new home, despite my best efforts.

We were ordered to vacate our apartment on 10/31 after nearly 5 years at the residence, and my daughters and I have been living in a hotel since. Between storage fees, hotel costs, food, and gas, my savings have been depleted. I’ve been actively interviewing and applying for work, and I’m grateful to share that I have a job offer starting soon within the next few weeks. I’ve also been approved for a new place after months of spending so much on application fees that went nowhere… but now I’m unable to cover the move-in costs. I now have until December 1st to pay the deposit ($1500) & 1st months rent ($1500) to be able to secure my place as the new tenant as the landlord has been very patient with my situation thus far.

I’m asking for support with deposits, remaining hotel nights, food, and basic expenses so my family can finally move into stable housing. Even $5, a share, or a lead on resources can make a real difference. Proof of our situation can be provided to anyone who needs verification. My oldest daughter is a senior, and all I want is for her & her sisters to be able to stay focused on school and not let what I’m going through affect their path in any way.
