the sun’s flower

“the sun’s flower” is a poetry book that speaks for black girls quickly growing into partially committed relationships with themselves and loved ones who don’t have much love to give them. Through journal entries and nonlinear storytelling, “the sun’s flower” is about finding strength in vulnerability and finding comfort in honesty. It’s a memoir about recovering from childhood trauma. It’s a short narrative about loving deeply and falling in/out of love. Most importantly, it’s black woman’s declaration of love for herself and others.
