Andrea McCormick is a Performing and Teaching Artist from Cleveland, Ohio who has received her Bachelor of Arts from Wright State University in Theatre Studies with an emphasis on Applied Vocal Performance and Dance. Beginning with ballet at 3 years of age, she also continued her studies in various dance forms, including tap, African folk dance, liturgical/spiritual, jazz, musical theatre dance, modern/contemporary, hip hop, and Latin ballroom.
Post college, under the stage name Andrea Belser, Andrea has remained extremely active in the northeast Ohio theater community, receiving 2008 Best Actress in Cleveland for her role as Juliette in I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda at Dobama Theatre, and nomination as 2012 Best Actress in Cleveland for her role as Pecola in The Bluest Eye at Karamu House Theatre.
She presents herself on and off stage, doing anything from acting, dancing, or singing, to stage manager, choreographer, or costume assistant. She has also worked with several theaters, including but not limited to Cleveland Public Theatre, MegLouise Dance, Opera Cleveland, Near West Theatre, The Fine Arts Association, The Lantern Theatre, and Talespinner Children’s Theatre. Andrea currently teaches drama/theatre arts, musical theatre and various dance in different theaters, outreach programs and venues, both in groups or private lessons. Since 2009, she has taught students ranging from 2 years old to adult, with theaters and companies such as Solon Center for the Arts, Playhouse Square, Kulture Kids, DANCECleveland, Cleveland Play House, Great Lakes Theatre, Talespinner Children’s Theatre, Beck Center for the Arts, and Cleveland School of the Arts. In addition to the arts, Andrea received her certificate as a level 3 Reiki Practitioner and ordained minister in 2015. She uses the holistic practice of Reiki with private clients and groups, and can assist with general health and wellness for all ages.
