Rocky Douglas (she/her) is a plant-loving multimedia artist, herbalist in training, and current Ph.D student with roots in Houston, Texas. She recently finished her thesis, “Trauma is Carried in the Spirit,” which is attentive to Black women’s healing faith practices. She permanently installed four art pieces at Williams College in 2016, has hosted meditation workshops at Brown University, and has been sharing her homemade spiritual self-care products with her communities since 2019. Recently, she’s felt deeply indebted to the medicines of sea moss, bladderwrack, passionflower, hibiscus, and violet.
Throughout Rocky’s Root Care, you’ll find resources, art, spiritual self-care products, challenges, and more that ask you to dwell on what lies beneath your surface and how you connect with your inner Self. I believe that true self-care includes checking in and tending to our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with the support of and for the betterment of our communities. This is as much of a spiritual interrogation as it is a social and political one.
