Shannel Pearmen, a TV reporter was eager to give birth to her first child. But as her due date neared, troubling symptoms crept in: sudden swelling, rapid weight gain and elevated blood pressure. Shannel voiced her concerns repeatedly, but says they were brushed aside. “Everyone kept telling me it was normal, that the swelling would go down.”
Instead, her condition worsened. At 41 weeks, she was induced and labored for hours before doctors determined an emergency C-section was necessary.
With her newborn, Shannel left the hospital with reassurances that everything was fine, that the swelling was normal and would resolve with time. She was told to come back in six weeks. But just one week later, a splitting headache and blurred vision sent her back to the hospital; she was in the middle of a hemorrhagic stroke, caused by a ruptured blood vessel in her brain.
Though recovery was grueling, she has since recovered and found the courage to have a second child.

Channel now warns mothers to not ignore the symptoms, but insist on them even if others initially tell you everything is fine.
Assistance With Utilities and Food
I am a self-employed 52 years mature lady who is doing my best to stay afloat and make ends meet. My gas has been off half a year or more and I am in danger of losing my housing and becoming homeless. I have no family or others to help. I also need help with electric and food. I am single and alone and would appreciate those who decide to reach out. Thank you.
Helping my Family Secure Food and Home
Hi, I’m Emmittcia (Mimi) Jones, a dedicated mother of five children, including a beautiful newborn son who is just nine months old. I am currently unemployed, and I and my family are facing a critical financial hurdle. We are urgently asking our community for support in raising $1,000 to cover immediate needs for rent. The past few months have been overwhelming. While welcoming our newest son brought immense joy, it also amplified the strain of supporting a large family on zero income. Despite my eagerness, and passion at job seeking, I face a significant barrier: my past. The background check process unfortunately prioritizes previous mistakes over my current abilities, meaning I am often judged by my background before my professional skills are considered. Your generous contribution of $1,000 is a critical bridge that will ensure our rent is paid and my five children have a roof over their heads through this immediate crisis. This will give me the crucial time needed to overcome these hiring barriers and secure the stable, professional employment our family deserves. Thank you for your kindness and belief in my family’s future.
